Board of Directors

    Amy Devins

    CHAIR

    Ms. Amy Devins serves as the Crisis System Manager, leading the First Responder Services and Urgent Engagement teams at Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan, the Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) in 12 Arizona counties. In this role, Ms. Devins and her staff are responsible for maintaining a ubiquitous Crisis System and developing partnerships with first responder agencies to increase first responder confidence in, and usage of, crisis system and health plan alternatives to detention and emergency departments. With 15 years of experience as a detective and patrol officer in Colorado and Wyoming, Ms. Devins understands the need for robust crisis services ready to serve their communities. She is a proud University of Iowa alumna and a passionate advocate of emergency services peer support programs, Critical Incident Stress Management and Crisis service delivery, Resiliency: 5 Skills training, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT). Amy is one of three Inaugural Board Members still serving on the Board.  She is beginning her second term as Chair of the Foundation.

    Christena Tenney

    VICE-CHAIR

    Christena Tenney has been an educator in Tucson for 17 years. She is currently an instructional coach for the Marana Unified School District. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona in Communication and two master's degrees from Northern Arizona University in Elementary Education with Certification and Educational Leadership. Her association and admiration of law enforcement led her to Hearts of Gold. She is the mom of two boys and they keep her busy with all of their sporting events and shenanigans. She enjoys traveling and attending sporting events and is excited to serve on the Hearts of Gold Board.

    Hilary Mahoney

    SECRETARY

    Hilary has worked in child welfare and behavioral health for 20 years. She works for Banner University Family Care as the Children’s System of Care Associate Director. In this role, Hilary works to ensure the contracted network of behavioral health providers is able to meet the needs of children and families across Arizona. Hilary received her Bachelor’s degree from University of Portland and a Master of Public Health from the University of Arizona. Hilary is proudly married to a member of the law enforcement community and joined the board to support other LEO families.  Hilary is excited to join the Hearts of Gold team!

    John Lebbs

    TREASURER

    John is the founder of John Lebbs CPA, PLLC, an accounting firm located in Oro Valley specializing in advising small businesses and individuals with their tax and accounting needs. John has a passion for coaching and educating his clients. A Tucson native, John attended the University of Arizona where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. In addition to being the Treasurer for Hearts of Gold, John is also the Treasurer for the Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising money for scholarships and community improvements. John and his wife Tamra have two sons, Jacob (Michelle) and Adam. They enjoy spending time with their family, traveling, and attending Wildcat basketball games.  John is one of three Inaugural Board Members still serving on the Board and is beginning his third term as Treasurer.

    Tom Vetrano

    IMMEDIATE PAST CHAIR

    Tom is the owner and founder of Vetrano Financial Services where he has served the Tucson Community for the past 32 years. Tom is also the preferred provider and member educator for financial wellness and retirement planning for the Tucson Police Officer's Association. Tom is originally from Queens, New York. He spent his early childhood years living on Long Island, until his family relocated to Tucson. Tom is involved in his community, participating as a past president of the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce and former Member of the Board of Directors of the 100 Club of Arizona. He now serves on the 9/11 Tower Challenge Committee. He has volunteered in the past with Junior Achievement and is currently on the Town of Oro Valley’s Municipal Property Corporation. Tom and his wife Michelle, have two sons, Nicolas and Joseph. Their family enjoys sports, traveling and entertaining family and friends. Tom is one of three Inaugural Board Members still serving on the Board, serving two terms as Chair.

    David Corrado

    DIRECTOR

    Hearts of Gold is excited to welcome Dave Corrado to our team! Dave is the first retired Tucson Police Department member to join the Hearts of Gold Board. Dave medically retired from TPD in October of 2019 after over 21 years of service. During Dave's career he served primarily as a patrol officer and detective. Dave honorably served in the Army Reserves and Air National Guard for six years and graduated Summa Cum Laude last year from the University of Arizona with a degree in Administration of Justice. Dave served on the Gala planning committee this year and was instrumental in acquiring silent auction items to make the event a success! Dave is excited to join the team and be part of helping the personnel he served alongside for so many years. Welcome to the Board Dave!

    Scott Redmon

    DIRECTOR

    For over 15 years, Scott Redmon has been a practicing attorney in Southern Arizona. In 2019, he formed "The Redmon Law Firm" to help clients in various legal matters in courts throughout the state. As a former prosecutor, Scott was the 2013 Mothers Against Drunk Driving ("MADD") DUI Enforcement Award winner for the City of Tucson Prosecutor’s Office. While with the City, Scott's passion was trial litigation. Scott's philosophy for prosecution was always to act as a "minister of justice". During his tenure with the City, Scott deeply appreciated the opportunity to work and collaborate with the members of the Tucson Police Department. Public service and volunteerism have been an important part of Scott's life and career. Since law school, Scott has enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer with various organizations and events, including "Wills for Heroes" benefitting first responders, VITA tax clinics, "Ask a Lawyer Days" sponsored by the Pima County Bar Association, the "QUILT Program" for Southern Arizona, and assisting with youth sports at the YMCA of Southern Arizona for many years. Since 2007, Scott has been a resident of Tucson after moving to Arizona from the Midwest. He resides on the northwest side of town with his family. When not practicing law, Scott enjoys supporting his children with their various activities, officiating high school athletics for the AIA, enjoying the Arizona outdoors, and being a season ticket holder for U of A sports (Bear Down!).

    Sydney Williams

    DIRECTOR

    Sydney Williams has been an Arizona resident her entire life and fell in love with Tucson while attending the University of Arizona. She has a bachelor’s degree from the Eller College of Management in accounting. She works for a local firm Ludwig Klewer & Rudner PLLC where she discovered her love for non-profits. Sydney has family members within the law enforcement community and joined the board to support the local law enforcement family of Southern Arizona. Outside of work Sydney enjoys spending time with family and friends. Sydney is very excited to serve on the Hearts of Gold Board. Welcome to the team Sydney!

    Jamie Brady

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Jamie retired as a Lieutenant with the Tucson Police Department in October, 2019 after 20 years of service. During her career she held a variety of assignments and served on the Boards of Directors for the Tucson Girls Chorus, Tucson Police Commander's Association, and 88-Crime. Jamie also volunteered her time from 2011-2015 planning and fundraising for the Tucson Police Officers Charitable Association annual Police Ball. Jamie was instrumental in the development of the Hearts of Gold Foundation and is excited to serve the organization that assists the Department members whom she worked alongside for so many years.

    Cindy Mechtel

    TPD LIAISON

    Captain Mechtel began her career with the Tucson Police Department in 2000 as a Crime Scene Specialist becoming a commissioned member in 2004. During her tenure, Captain Mechtel has held assignments in patrol, investigations, the Office of Professional Standards, and the Community Engagement Division.  Cindy has volunteered with Hearts of Gold since 2009 serving on various committees during that time and is passionate about helping her fellow Department members. Captain Mechtel has an AAS in Law Enforcement and a BS in Justice Studies from Grand Canyon University. She is married with a son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. Cindy is excited to serve as the TPD Liaison and is available to Department members for questions or concerns.

    Cassandra Joffroy

    MARKETING AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

    Cassandra is a recent graduate of the University of Arizona, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication with a double minor in Public Relations and Government and Public Policy. During college, she interned as the Social Media and Event Logistics Coordinator for the Georgia Games Foundation in Atlanta and currently volunteers as the Social Media Coordinator for the CDO High School Boys Soccer Team. Cassandra loves traveling, adventure, animals, live music, and spending time with friends and family. As the newest member of the team, she is excited to bring fresh ideas, creativity, and energy to the organization.
